I have nothing against legitimate trading, done under fair and honest parameters that do not victimize others. The citizens of this country have been trying to rein in some of the unfair trading practices of Wall Street, and having trouble getting Congress to stand for its constituents rather than the wealthy corporations that appear to be running our country more with each passing day. It is my fervent hope that attempts to control the futures trading on oil commodities will be regulated, giving the people of this country a badly-needed break in the onslaught of ever-increasing pressures on our depleted pocketbooks. Many folks, such as myself, lost our jobs after the crash of 2008, and have been having a difficult time making our way back - especially those of us who are now at an age where it is difficult at best to get a new job (I am 65).
Having some pressure taken off in the form of lower gas prices has definitely helped a bit, and continuing cuts would also affect the prices of other goods impacted by high transportation and manufacturing prices due to oil prices. It is time to return some sanity to our system, giving people a fair chance to contribute to our country, reap the touted benefits of democracy, and put back into the economy.
I was inspired by the words supporting your organization name, "Ensuring the Integrity of the Futures and Swaps Markets." This gives me some hope that there are still people in power who are willing to fight for preserving and returning our current system of life and government to a strong and honestly ethical way of living and doing business.
