I am a private citizen of the United States, and I think the approval of the Nesdex request to trade binary contracts on some political election in the U.S. would be a terrible mistake.
We have already seen the impact that money has on influencing politics in the recent Iowa elections in January of 2011. The new Super Pac’s will be a factor in our politics until the law is overturned.
The approval of Nesdex request would open the door for a myriad of unthinkable dire consequences. Clients could be influenced by their interests in Nesdex. The mere possibility that volunteers, campaign employees, and even politicians would invest in such an enterprise raises at least a specter of bias in the outcome of elections.
I can only hope that the Commission evaluates the proposal, and comes to the responsible conclusion that trading binary contracts in any United States election is in itself a flawed proposal.
