Just yesterday I received an e-mail from Bill Nelson (my former fraternity brother at the University of Florida) requesting me to write an e-mail to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to complain about the high cost of wheat and of gasoline saying that speculators "wildly bid up the price for everyday items we need". To the best of my knowledge, relying on what I learned when a public school education meant something, our economy is based on supply and demand and that regulation by government was a violation of our unalienable rights. Yesterday I heard that it is cheaper for our farmers to send wheat and hay to China than it is to our own cattlemen and dairymen. I understand that the reason is that the Chinese government subsidizes the cost to import these items and certainly has many ships headed back to the east empty after having dumped their products on our country. I also know that the government has done everything in it's power to prevent us from drilling for our own substantial supply of oil that sits under the very rear ends of our illustrious politicians in Washington. Bill Nelson is amoung the clan of socialists in Washington that feels that they can take care of everyone. Taking care of everyone is not their responsibility and they continuously step over the line of their intended responsibility as framed by our forefathers. Keep it up CFTC. Keep the United States free.
