The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, and the people with money buy commodities that make the poor unable to buy gasoline, food, pay mortgages, rent, medical co-pays, utilities. Is this really fair, when we the shouldn't-be-so-poor are struggling so hard to make ends meet?
I am a 72-year-old widow of a Navy man. I am working three part-time jobs to supplement my Social Security, a small pension of my own, and my Survivor's Benefit Annuity from the Navy. My divorced daughter, mother of two, one of whom is an 11-year-old Type I Diabetes sufferer, is living with me, as is my single daughter. We are barely keeping our heads above water, and dodging creditors all the time, because we must eat, take care of our young, and have transportation to our jobs.
Please have a little pity, you with the money, and ease up on what will make our lives harder, or we may soon be on the streets.
Thank you,
Mary J. Moore
