For far too long, the US financial system has rewarded those who speculate on the prices of basic commodities. They drive the prices of goods up, and make money doing it. Such speculators are also typically part of the group that is benefitting from Bush-era tax cuts for corporations and the very rich.
Those that can least afford it suffer the most, while these profiteers get richer. There is currently a huge problem with the wealth gap, which threatens the very fabric of our country. Speculation is one of many contributors to this gap.
Please fix the system that rewards folks with lots of money by harming those of us that don’t have lots of money.
