Dear Mr. Stawick:
I urge the CFTC to adopt speculative position limits that protect American consumers and our economy from the volatility and high prices that excessive speculation causes.
Although we supposedly have a free-market system, subject to the laws of supply and demand, prices of many commodities are too often determined by speculation.
I can accept and adapt to the prices of resources based availability but not when speculators earn profits for doing essentially nothing and adding no value in the supply chain.
Sincerely,
William J. Shaheen
