I am very concerned about food commodities and the trading that , in recent years, has led to huge increases in price. Such speculation causes such problems to the poorer as they spend a greater proportion of their income on food.
I am writing to ask you to do the following:
In order to avoid food and energy price bubbles as happened in 2008, the CFTC should implement the proposed speculation limits. (Wall Street is telling the CFTC not to establish these limits.)
Only give exemptions to businesses that deal in physical commodities (like farmers, gas stations, etc.). Do not give any exemptions to banks, hedge funds or other financial players.
I hope you will consider my views,
Jane
