I want to see a Tobin tax enacted. That is I want any and all "trades" under the jurisdiction of the FTC to be subject to a .25% tax. This will stop much of the speculation driven trades that do nothing to build a sustainable economy. The period of greatest economic growth for the vast majority of US citizens was the Post- World War II era, when an identical tax was in place. We do not have deficit budget crisis; we have a revenue crisis and the revenues generated by the Tobin tax would go far to close the gap and enable us to keep in place the safety net for the United States workers whose productivity has generated the greatest wealth ever known.
