My name is Cecelia and I am a single woman with no extra income to cover the cost of increase in food prices. Family farmers and ranchers like mine are going under every day, yet you ignore their needs and promote the Wall Street Casino with just a few corporate cronies like Monsanto, ConAgra and ADM.
I compare your actions to the story of Moses and the worship of the Golden Calf. You don't have the guts to do the right thing, so you'll cave in to getting along by going along with the 'new' way of thinking. But remember what happened to those who caved in on doing what was right and gave in to worshiping the golden calf? Yeah, that's what the Ivory Tower of Wall Street has left us with. Yes, corny and naive as it sounds, but the 98% of us who have worked for stagnated wages for the last 30 years can relate to the corny and naive. It's all we have left after you've ravaged our pensions and wages and sent our jobs overseas.
Tell me - if you succeed at turning the USA in to a 3rd world country, does that mean you'll come back around and reinvest in us when we're all living in tent cities and digging through trash piles to survive? But what do you care as long as you've got yours. How naive of me to expect anything different. I just haven't tried hard enough to be one of you, so I should be expected to suffer, right?
I urge you to curb excessive gambling in commodities markets like food and oil.
While many factors contribute to today’s highly volatile commodity prices, it is clear that excessive speculation is partially responsible, as shown in dozens of studies by respected institutions such as Princeton, MIT, Petersen Institute, University of London, Yale, the United Nations and the U.S. Senate.
Speculation thus imposes financial hardships on families around the country. Sudden rises in gas and food prices force us to make difficult decisions and sacrifices. Especially right now, with so many families struggling, and unemployment barely beginning to decrease, we cannot allow speculators to unduly affect our food and gas prices.
Please put in place effective position limits rules, and do not allow them to be undermined by exemptions or exceptions, or allow Wall Street gamblers to escape them.
