My name is Marcia West. I work for a non-profit organization that works to bring investments and services to low income areas. My salary is not high so I care about increases at the grocery store. Last summer, I noticed that the price of a loaf of bread had gone up about a dollar. I was puzzled as other products had increased, but not by that much. Then I read an article in the July 2010 issue of Harper's Magazine entitled "The food bubble: How Wall Street starved millions and got away with it." I learned the reason for this large increase and how it kept many from eating. I was and still am horrified that this is allowed to go on. Please prevent such cruel and inhumane treatment of fellow human beings. Gambling with humanity's very means of survival -- gas and food -- must be stopped.
Thank you.
