I am a retired school teacher, and I am being hurt unduly by the rising cost of food and gasoline. I know some of this is unavoidable, but my concern centers on the effect of some obscene investing on the part of very large financial players, hoping to make a fortune gambling on futures in these markets.

I am writing to ask you to enact rules to end speculation in the oil and food industries. I have read a number of articles that indicate that money games by wealthy investors are a large part of the current rising cost conditions we citizens face.

I understand our freedoms that allow these high stakes players this "gambling" ability, but I feel that their actions are creating unduly increased burdens financially on everyday people like me. At that point, I say that MY freedom to live a normal life is affected by the greedy actions of these speculators.

I feel it is your duty to limit these activities by large players by enacting rules that are iron-clad and not able to be circumvented by the clever legal maneuvers these high-powered speculators often employ. It is critical to the families and workers of our nation.

I ask you to act on the behalf of the many ordinary people like me and curtail these speculative actions by the few investment managers who are running wild in these difficult times, gambling while the rest of us suffer.

I am asking the CFTC to put strong limits in place to control speculation in food and oil.

Further, I am asking the CFTC to make sure that exceptions not be given to hedge fund managers, banks, or other large financial players.

This action is vital if the ordinary people of this nation are to have a chance to survive this economic precipice that we now stand on.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent request.
