Interactive Brokers' Chairman and CEO Thomas Peterffy was asked by Chairmen Gensler and Schapiro to be a panelist at the recent meeting of the Joint CFTC-SEC Advisory Committee on Emerging Regulatory Issues, addressing issues relating to market structure and the May 6 flash crash.
In that vein, I think that you and Chairman Gensler might be interested in a speech Mr. Peterffy gave recently before the World Federation of Exchanges -- "Crisis of Trust -- Internalization, Fragmentation and the Future of Market Structure." The speech addresses issues relevant to securities and futures markets.
The speech also address issues relevant to OTC derivatives markets and clearing.
Barron's featured the speech in an article last weekend, and said that it "should be required reading for regulators and Congress" and in that spirit, I wanted to send you a copy of the speech (and the article).
Thanks and if you have a chance to read it, I hope you find it interesting.
