In almost every government, business or nonprofits organization they must adhere to their specific code of ethics. After reading a disturbing email from Senator Bill Nelson, it appears your members are taking advantage of citizen’s who have no other source for the services they need such as food, clothing and gas. According to Senator Nelson’s email, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission members are manipulating and interfering with food and energy prices. I can only urge you to adhere to your basic code of ethics by providing an environment where everyone conducts themselves honestly and to maintain public confidence in their performance and affairs with a deep sense of ethical responsibility. All member from the greatest to the least should conduct official and personal affairs in a manner giving a clear impression that they cannot be improperly influenced in performing their official/professional duties and to avoid participating in matters that create the “appearance of conflict of interest”. I can only stress that each member do a daily self-assessment and to return to what you have been taught before taking your public service position and to stop listening to Wall Street lobbyists. Citizens of America expect they will be treated fairly and with respect. They expect to be informed and listened to, as well as receive the proper service they deserve. Go beyond your current one-on-one encounters with individuals and/or Wall Street lobbyists and consider the general concerns of society as a whole. Please remember that those placed in public service positions are to do just that “serve the public with fairness and respect”. If you still choose to follow unethical behaviors, I have every confidence that someone who is willing and ready to do what is right will soon take your place! American’s has evolved and we no longer choose to sit back and watch unethical people be in a position for personal gain that ultimately causes unnecessary grief and hardship to the people’s basic needs.
