Subject: Stop Speculation
Dear Sir or Madam:
In the interests of avoiding the rapidly approaching civil war in our country, I would like to suggest that rapid and substantial restraints be placed on speculation in commodities trading. Arbitrage is an unproductive manifestation of lax regulation resulting in stagnation of economic systems around the world.
I realize that it is difficult to place the Genie back in the bottle once the stopper has been pulled. However, it is just as difficult to spend unduly gained profits after you have been lynched by an angry populace.
I ask you to see that hopelessness despair and desperation are as easily weapons, as they are conditions of markets. History shows that all peoples have a breaking point and once the cork pops, ugly things tend to occur. Wouldn’t it make sense to act on behalf of the populace for a year or two and stop being toadies to Wall Street?
Hero’s are often people who, having no choice or wishing to help, act without thought of themselves to save others. Wouldn’t you like to be Hero’s to a grateful nation?
Sanity, Fidelity and Unity make a country strong and prosperous for all citizens. Greed, Avarice and Secrecy are the tools of Tyrants. America was founded on a belief that tyranny had no place in a just world. Stand up for America and stop Speculation!
I.S. Johnson
