Dear Chairman and Commissioners,
My name is Isak Hernandez, and I'm a student from California. I'm writing in response to the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Prediction Markets, as published in 91 FR 12516. I've used prediction markets a few times, specifically on platforms like Kalshi, and my personal experience has been frustrating to say the least.
To be honest, my experience with Kalshi left me feeling misled. I went in thinking it was about informed trading, but it felt more like gambling with no real substance behind the bets. I was pretty disappointed, and it made me skeptical about the whole concept.
I strongly believe event contracts are just gambling. They serve no economic purposes, like helping people make informed decisions or protect against uncertainty. Calling this gaming feels correct. I urge the CFTC to ban these prediction markets that do not contribute to our society.
