My name is Zane Sanchez, and I'm a tax professional based in Colorado. I'm writing to provide my input on the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Prediction Markets, as published in 91 FR 12516. As someone who actively trades on platforms like Kalshi for personal enjoyment and insight, I strongly support the development of well-regulated prediction markets. I believe they offer unique value to society, and I'm glad the CFTC is taking steps to shape a thoughtful regulatory framework.
I'm fully in favor of stronger regulation to protect consumers. Without proper oversight, people might turn to unregulated offshore platforms, which are far less safe. Regulation by the CFTC, as you're exploring in Topic Area A with questions on manipulation prevention, would keep activity in a transparent, accountable space.
