Many other comments I'm sure have covered most bases so I simply want to add my 2 cents to the conversation:

Both prediction markets and the stock market are rife with fraud and corruption and need better oversight.

With that said, prediction market platforms are more accessible to the everyday person than the knowledge, capital, and time investments require in the stock market to benefit from. As long as both markets are corrupt and we're not doing anything to stop the fraud occurring in the stock market, don't take away access to the people who choose to try and make or break on prediction markets. Fix both or neither completely at the same time, but don't prevent everyday real people from being able to participate while the already rich and wealthy are free to take advantage.

If we're going to have a gambling based economy at least let us all play. My honest preference is to actually fix so no one can take advantage but we all know we're not gonna do that..
