Comment Text:
Prediction markets should not compromise our security. When insiders bet on foreign policy, military operations or any other government operations, they have a vested interest in moving the military operations or the specific government policy forward. This means that they are working for their own wallet and not for the good of the people.
The Commission should explicitly prohibit event contracts related to military operations, acts of war, terrorism, political assassinations, and non-financial government policy decisions as contrary to the public interest.
It also is important to strengthen surveillance and enforcement against insider trading. Public officials or their friends should not be undermining their responsibilities to the people by making decisions based on profit and not on our wellbeing.
